A "FIFA Partner" is the highest level of sponsorship status which is given to just 6 companies. There are a number of defined industry/business categories, for each of which just 1 FIFA Partner is chosen. As a FIFA Partner in a category, a company would be able to exercise certain exclusive rights. A Fifa Partner is given a broad array of rights at FIFA events. A Fifa Partner may use the partner logo at the FIFA World CupTM and other FIFA events as well as having rights to the use of certain FIFA images and archive materials. Other Fifa partner rights includes advertising boards in stadiums, TV sponsor credits, having its corporate logo appear on the TV screen as a background to the score-line, and preferential negotiation rights for TV Commercial spots.

January 19, 2005 - FIFA and adidas formally announced an extension of their partnership agreement granting adidas the Official Partnership, Suppliership and Licensing rights for the FIFA World Cup™ in 2010 and 2014. Adidas & FIFA have been partners since 1970. The contract offers adidas extensive licensing and event rights around the FIFA World Cup™, including joint marketing programmes, innovative Internet co-operations, priority access to TV advertising and premium stadium signage for all games of the tournament. Fifa announced on the 18th April 2006 that Emirates Airline signed up as a Fifa Partner from 2007 to 2014 in the category "Airline Passenger Services". The sponsorship deal has a value of value of $195 million, the largest Emirates has ever agreed. As part of its Partnership status, Emirates secured a commitment from FIFA to ensure that at least 22 matches - including the opening match, two quarter-finals, the semi-finals, the third place play-off and the final - of both the 2010 and the 2014 FIFA World Cups may be shown on free-to-air television within the territory of the United Arab Emirates. |

Announced on 6 April 2005, the sponsorship contract runs from 2007 to 2014 and the contract value (excluding services and product leases) is US$305 million. Sony was chosen for the "Digital Life" category which will be established in 2007. "Digital Life" covers a range of business activities from electronics to entertainment. |
