UAE's bidding for Soccer World Cup 2014

On the 10th July 2006, the it was stated in the 7days newspapers' sports section that Dubai might place a bid to host the Soccer World Cup 2014.

"My sources at the airline suggest that Dubai is more than serious about making a bid for the 2014 World Cup. Last month I revealed that a feasibility study was being undertaken and that a bid could be launched in the next year. Current favourites Brazil are struggling to fund their bid, and FIFA may be open to offers from the likes of the UAE and Australia. The latest news is that the UAE could have a provisional document ready by early next year, with the competition centred around Dubai Sports City."
